The Uptown Horns are Arno Hecht, Crispin Cioe, Larry Etkin, and Bob Funk. They've been called the Four Hornmen of the Apocalypse. They came together during the Dark Ages of music, after the invasion of the disco visogoths when synth pop started growing like a fungus on the airwaves, when drum machines brought pestilence to the grove. From those dark times 'til now, the New Age of Grunge, they've been told there was no room, indeed, no need— for horns in music.

They stood together and held their ground, because they believe in the sound of the music they love, the music of enlightenment. as knights in the ongoing crusade to save live music from obsequious sequencing, they have served such noble lords as James Brown, The Rolling Stones, Buster Poindexter, Joe Cocker, The B52's, Tom Waits, Albert Collins, Robert Plant, J. Geils Band, RuPaul, Al Kooper, R.E.M., Delbert McClinton, Solomon Burke, as well as numerous appearances with the Kings of Late Night, Letterman, Carson, etc., etc.The uptown horns release of "The Uptown Horns Revue" has sparked countless raves including BillBoard's Album Reviews, - " hailed for their collaborative efforts with everyone from the Rolling Stones to RuPaul, this four-man New York brass band. puts itself and its favored instruments in the foreground on a fiery album that romps from rollocking blues to smooth R & B soul with the ease and speed of an uptown express..."

Tony met Arno, Crispin, Larry and Bob in 1997 and have forged a solid working relationship over the past year. They were an intrical part in the recording of MAKANA and will always be the horn section of choice for this band.
